Instructor: Dr. Wyatt Mangum is a Professor at the University of Mary Washington and an expert in top-bar hive beekeeping. He also writes the Beekeeping Topics column for The American Bee Journal. Dr. Mangum has kept bees for over 40 years, including 200 top bar hives. His textbook, Top-Bar Hive Beekeeping: Wisdom and Pleasure Combined, is packed with how-to photos.
Class fee: $50, textbook ($54.39 including sales tax) not included (order here or copies available at class). Light refreshments, lunch not served.
Class is for: Beekeepers who have completed classwork in basic bee biology (such as a local beginners course) and/or with a year or more of beekeeping experience. This class will not include introductory beekeeping information. This course will cover a demanding range of topics in a very full day.
